Alioth (Debian)
Alioth (Debian)
Alioth was a FusionForge-based platform used by the Debian project to develop free software and free documentation, especially Debian-related projects. Most hosted work involved packaging software in the Debian format, but some non-Debian projects were hosted too, such as the SANE project.
History
- Alioth was announced in March 2003.
- It was originally planned to run on SourceForge, but Debian chose a GForge-based FusionForge system to avoid rebranding SourceForge.
- In 2009, Alioth began using FusionForge.
- In 2018, Alioth was replaced by a GitLab-based system hosted on salsa.debian.org and was shut down in June 2018.
- Administrators included Raphaël Hertzog and Roland Mas.
