Samuel Vargas is a Colombian-Canadian boxer who was born on April 12, 1989, in Bogotá. He lives in Toronto and fights as a welterweight and light middleweight. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall with a 72-inch reach.

He began his professional boxing career in 2010 at age 20, winning his first pro fight by technical knockout against Todd Furler in Montreal. In 2012, he won the NCC Welterweight title by defeating Manolis Plaitis. In 2013, Vargas captured the NABA Canada super welterweight title after a TKO of Julius Bunda in Toronto.

In 2016, Vargas was announced to face WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia in a non-title ten-round bout in Philadelphia, but he lost by TKO in the seventh round. On July 25, 2020, he was the first boxer to go more than six rounds with undefeated Vergil Ortiz Jr., ultimately losing by TKO in the seventh round. His next fight was against undefeated Conor Benn in London on April 10, 2021; Benn won by TKO in 80 seconds, marking Vargas’s seventh professional loss.

Vargas announced his retirement from boxing on March 13, 2022. Over his career, he fought 41 times, with 31 wins (14 by KO), 8 losses, and 2 draws.
