Ali Shaw (born 1982) is a British author of speculative fiction from Dorset, England. He studied English Literature at Lancaster University and has worked in bookshops in Oxford and London. Shaw's debut novel, The Girl with Glass Feet (2009), tells the story of a girl who gradually turns into glass from the feet up. It won the Desmond Elliott Prize and was praised by critics; The Guardian called it a magical fable of fate and resignation. His second novel, The Man Who Rained, appeared in 2012 and was Paperback of the Week in The Observer. In 2016 he published The Trees, a novel about an ecological apocalypse caused by giant trees; Kirkus Reviews described it as a blend of multiple genres, and Suzi Feay of the Financial Times called it very odd indeed, but compelling. Shaw was nominated for the Costa Book Award for First Novel in 2009 for The Girl with Glass Feet, and the book also won the Desmond Elliott Prize.
