Alexis Galpérine, born in Paris in 1955, is a French classical violinist, teacher and author. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and Juilliard, with teachers including Roland Charmy, Ivan Galamian and Henryk Szeryng. He won major international prizes and earned a philosophy degree from the Sorbonne. As a soloist, he has performed with many orchestras around the world and worked with renowned conductors. In chamber music, he helped found the American Chamber Players and has given hundreds of concerts in the United States and Canada; in France he is a regular guest with Ensemble Stanislas de Nancy. He has premiered more than a hundred works, with several composers dedicating pieces to him. He has written books and musicology articles, taught at the Conservatoire de Paris and at the American Conservatory of Fontainebleau, and served on juries of international competitions. He is involved with music organizations and, since 2017, has been Honorary President of the Rencontres Musicales du Plateau d’Assy. He is married to Elise Galpérine, a writer and lawyer.
