Alexander Alexeevich Chekalin (born 6 September 1947) is a Russian politician and former senior official in the Interior Ministry. He served as First Deputy Minister of the Interior from 2004 to 2008, after previously holding the roles of Deputy Minister (2000–2003) and Head of the Federal Migration Service (FMS) (2003–2004). From 12 May 2008 to 17 September 2017, he was a Russian Federation Senator representing the Udmurt Republic. Chekalin held the rank of Colonel General and served in the Interior Ministry from 1969 to 2008. In 2006, ahead of the 32nd G8 summit in St. Petersburg, he voiced support for mass arrests of protesters.
