Gold Was Our Grave is a 1954 mystery novel by British author Henry Wade. It is the seventh and last Inspector Poole book, written during the Golden Age of detective fiction. In the story, Hector Berrenton narrowly survives a car crash and then finds a threatening note at his home. It seems someone tampered with his car to seek revenge for his role in a Bolivian gold-mining venture that ruined many investors years earlier. The UK edition was published by Constable and the US edition by Macmillan. The book follows Too Soon to Die in the Inspector Poole series.
