Ahmar Mountains are a mountain range in the eastern Ethiopian Highlands, in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. The highest point is Kundudo, at about 3,380 meters (11,090 feet). The mountains average around 2,965 meters in elevation. They are located roughly 11 kilometers south of Dire Dawa and about 12 kilometers by road from Jijiga. The range was noted by the 19th-century explorer Richard Burton. Temperature drops as you go higher, so it is about 10°C cooler at higher elevations, and at night temperatures are roughly 10–12°C (50–54°F). The landscape is semi-desert with many rock formations. The Jubba and Shabelle rivers originate here.
