Agostino Borgato
Agostino Borgato, also known as Al Borgato, was an Italian actor and director born on June 30, 1871, in Venice. He made about 15 films in Italy between 1915 and 1922 and also performed on stage in Italy and England during the 1920s. In 1925 he moved to Hollywood, where he began his American film career with The Street of Forgotten Men. Over roughly 14 years in Hollywood, Borgato appeared in around 45 films (some sources list as many as 62), including Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932) and the 1939 version of The Three Musketeers. His distinctive features and voice came from acromegaly. His last two films, The Three Musketeers and Hotel Imperial, were released on February 17, 1939, less than a month before he died of a heart attack on March 14, 1939, in Hollywood.
