Houshou Marine
Houshou Marine (宝鐘マリン) is a Japanese virtual YouTuber from Hololive Production. She is part of Hololive Japan’s third generation, hololive Fantasy. Marine debuted on August 11, 2019, as the last member of the group to start streaming. Her Live2D avatar was designed by Akasa Ai and rigged by Ilie Tou. In her character, she calls herself the Captain (Senchou) of the Houshou Pirates, a pirate-themed cosplayer who doesn’t actually own a ship yet.
Marine streams a mix of chatting, drawing, singing, and gaming. Her chatting streams are known for fast-paced talk and a wide range of topics, from childhood TV shows and anime to internet memes. Her official character age is 17, though fans often joke about her as a mature adult.
As of December 23, 2025, she has about 4.28 million subscribers and over 2.07 billion views on YouTube. She became Japan’s most-subscribed VTuber on YouTube in January 2024, surpassing Kizuna AI, and by May 2025 she reached 4 million subscribers, the second Hololive member to do so after Gawr Gura. She is one of the most-subscribed VTubers on YouTube worldwide.
Marine was inspired to become a VTuber by Kaguya Luna and Nijisanji’s Tsukino Mito, and she cites Shirakami Fubuki and Minato Aqua as other influences. In December 2023, she performed at Fuji TV’s FNS Music Festival, becoming the first VTuber invited to the show, and was invited again in 2024. All singles she releases are under the Cover Corp. label.
