Adam West (band)
Adam West was a Washington, D.C.-based hard rock and psychedelic rock band that played from 1991 to 2008. The group was named after the actor and drew early influence from proto-punk bands like the Stooges and the Misfits.
The early lineup included Jake Starr (vocals), Bill Crandall and Ray Wiley (guitars), Phil Munds (bass), and Tom Barrick (drums). They released their debut single I Get a Sensation in 1993 on Fandango Records. The band had many lineup changes, with Starr and Barrick the only original members by their first full-length album, Mondo Royale, in 1997.
Adam West released six studio albums, many singles, and several compilation albums, and appeared on more than 40 artist compilations. They were nominated several times for Washington Area Music Awards and won five hard rock awards.
Their later music moved toward a snarky, humorous style, and they were sometimes compared to Sweden’s The Hellacopters, with whom they toured.
The final album, ESP: Extra Sexual Perception, came out in 2008 with Starr, bassist Steve (Fisher), drummer Jim Sciubba, and guitarist Mario Trubiano. The band played its last show in November 2008. A 2011 compilation, Five the Hard Way, collected many early singles. Starr later led Jake Starr and the Delicious Fullness.
