Aaron Gillane
Aaron Gillane (born 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-forward for Patrickswell and the Limerick senior team. He grew up in Patrickswell, County Limerick, and first made a name for himself at Ardscoil Rís, helping win the Harty Cup in 2014.
In college, Gillane played for Mary Immaculate College and won the Fitzgibbon Cup in 2017. He started with Patrickswell as a youngster and worked his way up to the senior team, helping the club win the Limerick Championship in 2016 (their first in 13 years) and again in 2019.
For Limerick, Gillane appeared with the minor team in 2014 and excelled with the under-21s, finishing as a top scorer in the 2017 Munster U21 Championship and winning the All-Ireland U21 title. He joined the Limerick senior panel in 2017 and made his championship debut that year.
Gillane played a crucial role in Limerick’s success, including the 2018 All-Ireland title (Limerick’s first in 45 years) and the 2019 National League Division 1 win. He was the top scorer in the 2019 Munster Championship and helped Limerick win the Munster title again in 2020. After a worrying injury in the 2020 semi-final, he recovered to top-score in the All-Ireland final, which Limerick won.
Since then, Gillane has continued to be a leading scorer for Limerick, earning All-Star nominations and contributing to more Munster and All-Ireland successes. He is known for his scoring ability, work rate, and leadership on the field.
