Inview Technology
Inview Technology Ltd is a UK-based software company that develops digital TV technology. They specialise in electronic program guides (EPG), interactive broadcasts, and IP-based services for Pay-TV and digital switchover markets. Their OTT platform allows TV broadcasts and internet content to be watched together. The company is privately owned, based in Northwich, Cheshire, and has around 85 employees. Julie Austin serves as CEO and Nick Markham is the Chairman.
Founded in 1996, Inview has long worked with set-top boxes from manufacturers like Digifusion, Thomson, and Sony, and helped launch early TV listings services such as 4TVInteractive (later replaced by other offerings). Nick Markham helped develop Freeview with the BBC. The company has played a role in digital switchover projects worldwide, including helping Nigeria move from analogue to digital TV and supplying associated EPG and VOD services. They have provided software and middleware for Dish Mexico and the Philippines’ Cignal, and have partnered with box makers like Humax and Skyworth, as well as silicon companies such as MStar and Broadcom. They also worked with Pico Digital for the Latin American market.
Inview released Liberator 3 in 2012, a cloud-based OTT platform for Pay TV operators. In areas with limited broadband, they offer broadcast services with advertising, Push-VOD, catch-up TV and PVR. They have updated millions of legacy set-top boxes to support modern features, and developed an HDMI dongle called Lolipop that streams content to a TV or mobile device via smartphone gestures. Inview’s leadership has included figures like Martin Edwards and Koen Van Driel, and their ongoing partnerships span many hardware and chip manufacturers.
