ARL3

ARL3 (ADP-ribosylation factor-like protein 3) is a human protein produced from the ARL3 gene. It belongs to the ARF family of small GTP-binding proteins. ARL3 can bind guanine nucleotides (GDP and GTP) but does not have the enzyme activity typical of ARF proteins. It can interact with the UNC119 homolog, which helps it function in cells.

In humans, the ARL3 gene is located on chromosome 10, at band q24.32. The gene has multiple transcripts and has counterparts in other species, including mice.

ARL3 is expressed in many tissues, with notable levels in neural tissues and the retina, as well as several epithelial tissues.
