A Violent Tale
A Violent Tale is a 95-minute Malayalam crime thriller written and directed by Arunlal. Produced by Abhilash Dayanandan for Empty Company Productions, the film features 32 debutant actors and was shot in Palakkad during the December 2020 COVID lockdown, with production completed in December 2021. It released on Saina Play on July 1, 2022, and later began streaming on MX Player from September 9, 2022. The budget was 100,000 INR.
The story follows several intertwined lives. Two police officers, Vikram and David, hunt a mysterious contract killer who uses a silenced pistol. Meanwhile, Vishnu and Siva, brothers from a wealthy family, seek revenge for their father’s murder. Maya, a girl held by the drug lord Mark Antony, becomes part of the escalating violence. A ruthless trio—Vincent, Amir, and Raghu—kill for money under the orders of Martin, a corrupt police constable, and his boss Carlos. As these plots collide, personal betrayals surface (David finds out his wife is having an affair with one of the trio), and the city spirals toward a brutal showdown.
The investigation intensifies when the police identify a mastermind named Philips. Vikram and David blackmail Philips to uncover the killer’s location, leading toward Mark Antony. Siva and Vishnu grow more determined to avenge their father, and they kill Ajay Varma and his attorney as part of their quest. With media attention rising, Carlos and Martin use the situation to run a cocaine deal involving Mark Antony. The truth about the killer culminates at Mark Antony’s cafeteria, where Vikram, David, Vishnu, and Siva confront the attackers. A chaotic shootout ensues, most participants die, and Maya is rescued, ending the film with her frightened, watchful eyes.
