"A Teardrop on a Rose" is a song written by Hank Williams. It was released as a single by Williams in July 1955, with the B-side "Alone and Forsaken," on MGM Records. The record runs about 2 minutes and 30 seconds and is listed as country and gospel. Williams had been toying with the piece for years as a parlor song. He pitched it to Braxton Schuffert, a fellow Alabama singer who released the song in 1950. Schuffert later said it was one of the most beautiful songs he’d heard, and Williams told him he could have it. MGM released a demo version that Williams likely recorded around 1952. The song was also recorded by Tommy Edwards and Connie Stevens.
