Survivor 48 is the 48th season of the American reality show Survivor. It aired on CBS from February 26 to May 21, 2025, and was filmed in the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji over 26 days. The 18 contestants started in three tribes—Civa, Lagi, and Vula—and later merged into the tribe Niu Nai, a name inspired by the Chinese term for “milk.”

Notable cast members included Dr. Cedrek McFadden, and Eva Erickson made history as the first openly autistic contestant on the show. Kyle Fraser won the title of Sole Survivor, with Eva Erickson finishing as runner-up and Joe Hunter in third place; the final vote was 5-2-1.

The season kicked off with rivalries and evolving alliances. Early on, two duos formed: Joe with Eva, and Kyle with Kamilla. Vula struggled in challenges, and there were several twists, including a tribe switch on day eight that reshaped the game. Kyle and Kamilla built a quiet but powerful alliance, and Kyle discovered a Hidden Immunity Idol and used an extra vote with Kamilla to execute blindsides. Eva uncovered an idol with the help of Star, who helped decipher a Beware Advantage.

After the merge, a core group—David, Eva, Joe, Kyle, and Shauhin—held power, but tensions and betrayals followed as the game progressed. Kyle navigated between his allies and a secret plan with Kamilla, while Kamilla repeatedly survived threats and used strategic moves to stay in the game. In the later stages, Kyle won key immunities and worked to split and control votes to eliminate major threats. Eva proved strong in social and physical challenges, and Kamilla emerged as a late-game force.

In a dramatic finish, Kyle reached the Final Tribal Council and highlighted his social bonds and careful game planning, including a mid-game betrayal of Shauhin. Eva and Joe presented different gameplay narratives, but Kyle’s strategic and interpersonal efforts earned him the title of Sole Survivor with a 5-2-1 vote. Eva placed second, and Joe finished third.

Reception to Survivor 48 was mixed. Some critics felt the season started strong but became slow or uneven in the post-merge, with several outlets ranking it toward the lower end of recent seasons. Still, many noted the compelling pre-merge dynamics and the compelling Kyle–Kamilla alliance as high points. The season comprised 13 episodes, with the premiere airing as a two-hour episode alongside a 90-minute runtime for the rest of the season.

Kyle Fraser, Joe Hunter, and Kamilla Karthigesu later announced returns for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans.
