2020 Egyptian parliamentary election
Egypt held parliamentary elections in two rounds, on October 24-25 and November 7-8, 2020, to elect 568 members of the House of Representatives (out of 596 total seats). The vote used a mixed system: 284 seats were filled from party lists in four constituencies, and 284 from individual candidates in 142 districts, with some districts voting in two rounds.
The elections were originally planned for April or May 2020. In 2019, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi ordered Parliament to pause its work and placed the National Security Agency in charge of candidate lists after concerns about how candidates were chosen in the previous election. The For the Love of Egypt list was linked to that process.
Result highlights: The Nation's Future Party won the largest share of seats, taking about 316. The remaining seats went to several other parties and many independents.
Final results were announced by the National Elections Authority on December 14, 2020.
