Amblyomma trimaculatum
The Goanna tick, scientifically known as Amblyomma trimaculatum, is a hard-bodied tick in the genus Amblyomma. It is found in Papua New Guinea, Australia, Indonesia, the Solomon Islands, and Sri Lanka. This tick lives as an ectoparasite on horses, feeding on their blood. It was first described by Lucas in 1878 and has had several other scientific names over the years, such as Aponomma trimaculatum and Ixodes trimaculatus.
