The 2017 Iraqi Super Cup was the 8th edition of the competition and the first since it was renamed from the Iraqi Perseverance Cup. It was played on 17 November 2017 at Karbala International Stadium in Karbala between Baghdad rivals Al-Zawraa and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya. About 30,000 people attended. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya were making their 5th appearance, while Al-Zawraa were appearing for the 6th time. The match finished 1–1 after 90 minutes, with Ali Rehema scoring a late equaliser for Al-Zawraa. Since there is no extra time, the winner was decided by a penalty shootout, which Al-Zawraa won 3–0. This gave Al-Zawraa their 4th Super Cup title, a record. Before kick-off, Iraq international goalkeeper Wissam Gassid, who had played for both clubs, had a retirement ceremony. Referee: Mohanad Qasim.
