2016 SheBelieves Cup

The 2016 SheBelieves Cup was the first edition of the tournament. It took place in the United States from March 3 to March 9, 2016, ahead of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Four teams were invited: the United States, Germany, England, and France. They played a round-robin format, meaning every team faced the others once. In the group stage, teams earned three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss. The games were held in three host cities at three venues. The schedule was announced in January 2016.

The United States won the competition, earning their first SheBelieves Cup title. Germany finished second, England third, and France fourth. A total of six matches were played and nine goals were scored, averaging about 1.5 per game. The top scorer was Alex Morgan with two goals, who was also named the tournament's best player. Hope Solo was named the best goalkeeper.
