2016 Recopa Sudamericana
The 2016 Recopa Sudamericana was a two-legged match between River Plate of Argentina and Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia. It pits the Copa Libertadores winner against the Copa Sudamericana winner. River Plate entered as the defending Recopa champions, while Santa Fe were appearing for the first time.

River Plate took the lead in the third minute when Sebastián Driussi finished a move started by Gonzalo Martínez. In the second half, Lucas Alario headed in a cross from Andrés D’Alessandro to make it 2–0. Santa Fe pulled a goal back in the 65th minute through Horacio Salaberry, but they could not find an equaliser. A late chance for River Plate hit the crossbar, and the game finished 2–1.
River Plate won the tie 2–1 on aggregate, securing their second Recopa Sudamericana title. Santa Fe were making their first appearance in the competition. River Plate qualified as 2015 Copa Libertadores winners, while Santa Fe qualified by winning the 2015 Copa Sudamericana.
