The club entered its 87th year with Haim Ramon as owner and Asi Domb as head coach. Home matches are played at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv. After finishing fourth in the previous season, Hapoel Tel Aviv qualified for the Europa League.
The team brought in several new players, including Shlomi Azulay, Sari Falah, Francis Benjamin, Tom Almadon, Obeida Khattab, Aviv Dado, Shoval Gozlan, Harmony Ikande, Ariel Lazmi, Omer Peretz, Gal Malka, and Branko Ilić. Departures included Omer Damari to Austria Wien for about €1.7 million and Itay Shechter to FC Nantes for around €400,000. Boris Klaiman also left for Beitar Jerusalem.
As of 23 September 2014, Israeli clubs must manage a foreign-player limit of five non-Israeli nationals, with some players able to claim Israeli status due to ancestry, residency, or marriage.
In European competition, Hapoel Tel Aviv was eliminated 3–1 on aggregate.
