The 2014 New Zealand Music Awards, the 48th edition of NZ’s annual music honours, were held on 20 November 2014 at Vector Arena in Auckland. The show was hosted by Shannon Ryan and Dai Henwood and was screened live on channel Four for the first time.

Lorde led the night with six awards, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Female Solo Artist, Best Pop Album, Highest Selling Single, and the International Achievement Award.

Five genre awards were presented earlier in the year:
- Best Folk Album: Tattletale Saints – How Red Is the Blood (awarded January at the Auckland Folk Festival in Kumeu)
- Best Jazz Album: Nathan Haines – Vermillion Skies (awarded March at the National Jazz Festival in Tauranga)
- Best Pacific Music Album: Sol3 Mio – Sol3 Mio (awarded May)
- Best Country Music Album: Kaylee Bell – Heart First (awarded May at the NZ Country Music Awards in Gore)
- Best Children's Music Album: Anika Moa – Songs For Bubbas (awarded July on What Now)

The Critics' Choice shortlist was announced on 16 October at the Pullman hotel in Auckland, and the Critics' Choice showcase and award presentation were held on 29 October at the King's Arms in Auckland. The Tui award trophy was the prize for winners.
