Samsung Galaxy Round
Samsung Galaxy Round
The Samsung Galaxy Round is an Android phablet from Samsung, released on October 10, 2013. It’s the curved version of the Galaxy Note 3 and was the first commercially produced smartphone with a curved display. It launched exclusively on SK Telecom in South Korea.
The device shares many Note 3 features, including a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED screen, a 2.3 GHz quad‑core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage (plus microSD up to 64 GB). It has a 13 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, and a removable 2,800 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. The curved body is longer and slightly thinner and lighter than the Note 3, and it comes in a Luxury Brown color with no stylus.
Samsung added curve-specific features like Quick Glance, which shows a clock and notifications when the phone is tilted, and the ability to skip songs by tilting the device while in standby.
Critics praised the phone’s high-end hardware and ergonomic curved design, noting less glare when watching videos. The Galaxy Round was a niche device, but it showed how curved screens could be used in real life and hinted at future curved smartphones.
