Brandon Watts
Brandon Watts (born January 21, 1991) is a former American football linebacker from Tennille, Georgia. He is 6 ft 3 in tall and weighed about 272 pounds during his playing days. Watts attended Washington County High School in Sandersville, where he played quarterback and safety, earned four varsity letters, and received multiple honors, despite a shoulder injury his senior year.
College career
Watts played for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 2009 to 2013. He started for two seasons and totaled 143 tackles in 26 games. In 2012 he logged most of the defensive snaps with 77 tackles. His senior year he had 66 tackles (42 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, plus an interception, a pass breakup, a forced fumble, and 2.5 sacks after returning from an injury. He posted impressive pro day numbers, including a 4.41-second 40-yard dash, a 37.5-inch vertical jump, and a 10-foot-3-inch broad jump.
Professional career
Watts was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft (223rd overall). He signed a four-year contract but was released by the Vikings in September 2016. He then joined the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad and later signed a reserve/future contract in January 2017, before being waived in September 2017. In the NFL, Watts recorded 8 total tackles and 2 forced fumbles.
After the NFL, Watts signed with the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football for the 2019 season, but the league folded in April 2019.
