Paul Leenhouts
Paul Leenhouts (born 1957) is a Dutch recorder player, composer and conductor. He studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and, in 1978, helped found the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet with Daniël Brüggen, Bertho Driever and Karel van Steenhoven. He has written and arranged many works for recorder and, in 1986, founded the Holland Open Recorder Festival in Utrecht. He has also served as director of the International Baroque Institute in Boston.
Leenhouts has taught recorder at the Sweelinck Conservatory and is the Director of Early Music Studies at the University of North Texas, where he gives master classes around the world. His interest in Renaissance music led him to work with various recorder ensembles, and he founded and directed The Royal Wind Music from 1997 to 2010. He collaborated with Walter van Hauwe to develop the Catalogue for Contemporary Blockflute Music.
