2014 Bayleys National Sevens
The 2014 Bayleys National Sevens was held in Rotorua, New Zealand, on 11–12 January 2014 at the Rotorua International Stadium. Sixteen men's teams and ten women's teams qualified from 26 provincial unions after three regional qualifiers in November and December 2013 (Southern, Central and Northern regions).
Teams were divided into four pools of four and played a round-robin in each pool. The top two teams in each pool moved to the Cup knockout stage. Cup quarterfinal losers dropped into the Plate bracket. The third- and fourth-placed teams in each pool played in the Bowl, with Bowl quarterfinal losers dropping to the Shield.
Regional qualifiers:
- Southern region: Fraser Park, Timaru, 23 November 2013
- Central region: Massey University Rugby Institute, Palmerston North, 7 December 2013
- Northern region: Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, 14 December 2013
Pool stage details: 16 men's teams in four pools, each pool playing six games (each team vs. the other three). Teams earned 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, and 1 for a loss. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the Cup quarterfinals.
