The 2012 Austin mayoral election was held on May 12, 2012. Incumbent mayor Lee Leffingwell was reelected. He won 52.06% of the vote (25,446), while Brigid Shea received 37.08% (18,126) and Clay Dafoe 10.86% (5,310). Turnout was 10.60%. This election was for an abbreviated term because Austin moved its mayoral term schedule to four-year terms starting in 2014, matching U.S. midterm election years.
