2011–12 Primera División (women)
The 2011–12 Primera División (women) was the 24th season of Spain’s top women's football league. Barcelona were the champions and qualified for the Champions League. The season ran from 4 September 2011 to 27 May 2012, with 18 teams (16 from last season and 2 promoted from the Liga Nacional). A total of 306 matches were played and 1,131 goals were scored (about 3.7 per game). Rayo Vallecano were the defending champions from the previous season. Barcelona started with 10 straight wins, breaking Levante’s previous record of nine, but their streak ended on matchday 15 with a 3–3 draw against Espanyol. They clinched the title on the last day. Sonia of Barcelona was the top scorer with 38 goals.
