Mayor of Rajshahi
The Mayor of Rajshahi is the chief elected leader of the Rajshahi City Corporation. The current mayor is Khandkar Azim Ahmed, who has held the post since 2 December 2024.
The mayor’s office is at Nagar Bhaban, Rajshahi, and the mayor has jurisdiction over all 30 wards of the city. Mayors are elected by the voters of Rajshahi for five-year terms, which can be renewed. The position is created by the City Corporation Act, 2009. The inaugural holder was Advocate M. Abdul Hadi, and the office was formed on 11 September 1988.
Salary is ৳150,000 per month (including allowances). The mayor’s duties include overseeing civic services, managing public properties, coordinating with various government agencies, and enforcing city regulations and state laws to ensure good governance and sustainable development.
