2008–09 National Youth League (Australia)
The 2008–09 National Youth League was the first season of Australia’s top youth soccer league. Sydney FC won the title, their first. The season had 41 matches and 199 goals were scored (about 4.85 per game). The top scorer was Francesco Monterosso with 13 goals. The biggest home win was Adelaide United 5–0 Newcastle Jets on 9 January 2009. The biggest away win was Newcastle Jets 1–7 Sydney FC on 7 February 2009. The highest scoring matches included Perth Glory 3–5 Sydney FC on 19 October 2008 and Newcastle Jets 1–7 Sydney FC on 7 February 2009. Sydney FC had the longest winning streak at eight games and the longest unbeaten run at eight. Newcastle Jets endured the longest winless streak and the longest losing run, both nine matches.
