1985–86 Belgian First Division
Belgian First Division, 1985–86 season. 18 teams competed. R.S.C. Anderlecht won the championship. K. Waterschei S.V. Thor Genk and Lierse S.K. were relegated. The top two teams, Anderlecht and Club Brugge, finished level on points, but Anderlecht had a better goal difference, so a two-game playoff decided the title—the first time since 1928–29. The matches were 1–1 in Brussels and 2–2 in Bruges. Anderlecht came back from two goals down and won on the away goals rule to become champions.
