In 2000, California held elections for all 52 U.S. House seats on November 7 as part of the nationwide House elections. Democrats gained five seats, increasing their delegation from 27 to 32 seats, while Republicans fell from 25 to 20 seats.
Statewide results show Democrats winning about 51.8% of the vote (5,405,002 votes) and Republicans about 42.6% (4,446,295 votes).
