1996 Bank of the West Classic
1996 Bank of the West Classic was a women's tennis tournament held November 4–10, 1996 in Oakland, California. Played on indoor carpet at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena, it was the 25th edition and part of Tier II of the 1996 WTA Tour. The event offered $450,000 in prize money. In singles, third seed Martina Hingis defeated Monica Seles 6–2, 6–0 to win the title. In doubles, Lindsay Davenport and Mary Joe Fernández defeated Irina Spîrlea and Nathalie Tauziat 6–1, 6–3. Draws: 28 players in singles and 16 teams in doubles.
