1985 NCAA Division I-AA football season
The season ran from August to December 1985 and included 87 teams. The playoffs began on November 30 and concluded with the championship game on December 21 at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. The Georgia Southern Eagles won their first I-AA title, defeating the Furman Paladins 44–42.
Note: Illinois State and Southern Illinois competed in both the Missouri Valley and the Gateway conferences during the 1985 season.
The top four teams were seeded and received first-round byes.
