Émile Dusart
Émile Louis François Dusart (2 August 1896 – 6 January 1918) was a French footballer who played as a midfielder for RC Roubaix and for the French national team in the early 1910s.
Dusart was born in Roubaix, the eldest of four sons. He grew up there and joined RC Roubaix with his brother André. He became a regular in the 1913–14 season and stood out for his technique and wing play, forming a strong partnership with Raymond Dubly. In 1914 he was selected to play for the Northern regional team in a friendly, and on 31 May 1914 he earned his only international cap for France in a 5–1 loss to Hungary in Budapest—the fourth player from RC Roubaix to reach the French team.
When World War I began, Dusart joined the army in 1915 as a second lieutenant in the 365th infantry. He died on 6 January 1918 in Sainte-Menehould, from wounds received on 2 January, while being transported by ambulance to a hospital.
His club held a mass in his honor in June 1919, and he was posthumously awarded the Knight of the Legion of Honor. His story was once confused with that of another player, Émile Désiré Dusart, but this has since been corrected.
