1982 Minnesota State Auditor election
On November 2, 1982, Minnesota voters elected their state auditor. Incumbent Arne Carlson, running as an Independent Republican, defeated Paul Wellstone of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. Carlson received 932,925 votes (54.81%), Wellstone received 769,254 votes (45.19%), a margin of 163,671 votes. Carlson was sworn in for a second term on January 3, 1983.
