1978 Cleveland Indians season
The 1978 Cleveland Indians season was the team’s 78th season, 64th as the Indians, and their 47th playing at Cleveland Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Owned by Ted Bonda and Steve O’Neill, with Phil Seghi as general manager and Jeff Torborg as manager, the Indians played on WJKW (TV) and WWWE (radio). They did not improve on the previous year’s 71–90 record, finishing 69–90 and missing the playoffs for the 24th straight year. On May 12, Nolan Ryan of the California Angels struck out Buddy Bell for his 2,500th career strikeout.
