1963 Aintree 200
On 27 April 1963, the 8th Aintree 200 was a non-championship Formula One race at the Aintree Circuit in England. The 50-lap race covered about 241.4 km (150 miles). Jim Clark took pole position in his Lotus-Climax with a time of 1:53.8, and he also set the fastest lap in 1:51.8. The winner was Graham Hill in a BRM P57. In second place was Innes Ireland in a Lotus-BRM, and Trevor Taylor finished third in a Lotus-Climax.
Clark started in his own Lotus with a flat battery and began the race a lap down. After 16 laps, he swapped cars with teammate Trevor Taylor (who was in fifth). Clark then moved up to finish third, while Taylor ended seventh. Brabham qualified second but did not start because a piston broke in practice.
