1936 North Dakota gubernatorial election

On November 3, 1936, North Dakota voters chose their governor. William Langer, the Nonpartisan League candidate, defeated the sitting governor, Walter Welford of the Republican Party, and John Moses, the Democratic candidate. Langer won about 35.8% of the vote (98,750), Welford about 34.7% (95,697), and Moses about 29.3% (80,726). Primary elections were held on June 24, 1936. The governor before the election was Walter Welford; after the election, William Langer became governor.
