1933 Christchurch mayoral election
1933 Christchurch mayoral election
The 1933 local elections in New Zealand included the Christchurch mayoral race, along with 16 councillors and other local positions. Sitting mayor Dan Sullivan, a Labour candidate, sought a second term. The Citizens' Association did not field a candidate. The sole challenger was independent Lancelot Walker, who supported grand schemes; Sullivan was viewed as more conservative in comparison.
Turnout was 29,249 voters. Sullivan received 18,345 votes (62.72%), and Walker received 10,389 votes (35.51%). Dan Sullivan was the mayor before the election and remained in office afterward.
