The Akron Zippers represented the University of Akron in the Ohio Athletic Conference during the 1931 college football season. In Red Blair's fifth year as head coach, the team finished 1–7 overall and 0–6 in the conference. They were outscored by opponents 114 to 39. William Schmittgen was the team captain. Home games were played at Buchtel Field.
