Ohio State won its first Western Conference title since joining the league in 1913, going 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Standings:
- Northwestern: 6-1 overall, 4-1 in the conference (their only league loss was to Ohio State in the finale)
- Minnesota: 6-1 overall, 3-1 in the conference
- Chicago: 3-4 overall, 3-3 in the conference
- Illinois: 3-3-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the conference
- Wisconsin: 4-2-1 overall, 1-2-1 in the conference
- Iowa: 4-3 overall, 1-2 in the conference
- Indiana: 2-4-1 overall, 0-3-1 in the conference
- Purdue: 2-4-1 overall, 0-4-1 in the conference
Bowl games: No Western Conference teams played in bowls in 1916.
