Anant Laxman Kanhere (7 January 1892 – 19 April 1910) was an Indian freedom fighter from a small village called Aayani (Anjani) in Ratnagiri district. He grew up in a family of the Chitpavan Brahmins and joined secret revolutionary groups in 1908, meeting other young activists in Maharashtra.

On 21 December 1909, Kanhere shot Arthur Mason Tippetts Jackson, the district collector of Nashik, killing him. Jackson was a British officer who was seen as friendly to locals and who had helped prosecute a fellow activist. The killing was part of a planned action by Nashik revolutionaries who wanted to strike against British rule.

Kanhere was arrested soon after and admitted his role in the crime. The plot also involved Krishnaji Karve and Vinayak Deshpande, who were prepared to help if needed, with Kanhere even planning to die by poison to avoid capture.

On 29 March 1910, the Bombay Chief Justice found Kanhere guilty. He was hanged in Thane Prison on 19 April 1910 at the age of 18, along with Karve and Deshpande. The other accused received life imprisonment or shorter sentences. None of the families were allowed to take the bodies; the prisoners were cremated in prison and the ashes were disposed of at sea.
