1903 Madrid Championship: The first official regional football competition in Madrid, organized by the Madrid Football Federation. Four Madrid clubs entered: Madrid FC (now Real Madrid), Moderno FC, Moncloa FC, and Iberia FC (founded early 1903). The matches were played from November 15 to December 27, 1903, at the Hipódromo de la Castellana and Plaza de Toros Avenue, with two more games planned for January that were not played. Moderno FC won the title, finishing ahead of Madrid FC. Only two games per team were played, instead of the originally planned twelve. This championship followed the 1902 Concurso de Bandas, a precursor to the Madrid Cup. The winner received the champion’s bands, presented by Juan Padrós.
