1206 Numerowia
1206 Numerowia is an outer main-belt asteroid, about 14–16 kilometers across. It was discovered on 18 October 1931 by Karl Reinmuth at Heidelberg Observatory in Germany and is named after Russian astronomer Boris Numerov. It orbits the Sun every about 4.85 years at a distance of roughly 2.7–3.0 astronomical units, with a slightly elongated orbit (eccentricity ~0.053) and an inclination of about 13 degrees.
Its rotation period is about 4.774 hours, and its brightness varies by up to 0.63 magnitudes, indicating an elongated shape.
Infrared surveys (Akari and NEOWISE) estimate a diameter between about 14.2 and 15.6 kilometers and an albedo around 0.14–0.17. If a darker, typical carbonaceous albedo is assumed (0.057), the diameter would be about 28 kilometers.
Two possible spin axes were derived from lightcurve data in 2016: (64°, −50°) and (271°, −69°) in ecliptic coordinates.
Numerowia was named in honor of Boris Numerov, and the lunar crater Numerov is also named for him; the naming citation was published in 1955.
