Andrew Painter (tennis)
Andrew Painter (born 18 July 1975 in Sydney) is a former Australian professional tennis player who mainly played doubles. He reached his best doubles ranking of No. 119 on 4 October 1999 and his best singles ranking of No. 492 on 10 July 1995.
Painter played in the Australian Open men’s doubles three times—1996 with Neil Borwick, 1997 with Jamie Holmes, and 1999 with Toby Mitchell—but never advanced past the first round. He did reach the second round at Wimbledon in 1998 with Jamie Holmes, after defeating David Škoch and Petr Luxa. In singles, he appeared in the 1995 Wimbledon main draw and lost in straight sets to top seed Andre Agassi on centre court.
In doubles, Painter and Lars Burgsmüller reached the final of the 2000 Grand Prix Hassan II, losing to Arnaud Clément and Sébastien Grosjean. He won four Challenger doubles titles during his career. Painter turned professional in 1994, played right-handed, and earned about $80,468 in prize money.
