11th International Emmy Awards

The 11th International Emmy Awards took place on November 21, 1983, at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York City. It was hosted by American actress Mary Tyler Moore. The awards, presented by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS), honor programs produced and originally aired outside the United States.

This gala mainly highlighted English-language television, with Britain leading the nominations (five) and winning three awards. The Canadian TV series Fraggle Rock won Best Children's Program. Granada Television's telefilm King Lear won Best Drama. The special Dangerous Music, produced by Alex Kirby for UK HTV, won in the Performing Arts category. Blackadder won Best Popular Arts Program, and The Miracle of Life, a documentary by Sveriges Television, won Best Documentary.

Roberto Marinho, president of Organizações Globo, received the Directorate Award; he competed with Leonard Goldenson, president of ABC; William Pailey, founder of CBS; and Emilio Azcarraga, president of Televisa.
