Bill Diachuk
Bill Wasyl Diachuk (October 8, 1929 – October 17, 2014) was an Alberta politician. He started in Edmonton local politics as a separate school trustee, serving from 1962 to 1964 and again from 1966 to 1971. He then moved to provincial politics, serving as a Progressive Conservative MLA for Edmonton-Beverly from 1971 to 1986. In 1979 he was named Minister without Portfolio responsible for occupational health and safety, a position he held until 1986.
Diachuk won four elections (1971, 1975, 1979, 1982), facing tougher contests in 1979 and 1982 and achieving his highest vote total in 1982. He was defeated in 1986 by Ed Ewasiuk of the NDP.
Born in Vegreville, Alberta, Diachuk died in Edmonton at age 85.
