Dead Moon Circus
Dead Moon Circus
The Dead Moon Circus are the main villains of Sailor Moon’s Dream arc (also known as Sailor Moon SuperS in the anime). They first appear in 1995 in the manga and are led by Zirconia, who works for Queen Nehelenia, a dark queen trapped in a mirror. Their goal is to find the Golden Crystal to break Nehelenia free and take over the Earth. The circus travels in dreams and uses fear to attack people.
Key members and groups
- Queen Nehelenia: The cruel queen behind the plan. She wants the Golden Crystal and to rule the world. In the story she is tied to a mirror, and her power is the big danger the Sailor Guardians face.
- Zirconia: The ground leader who serves Nehelenia. She gathers dreams, directs the Amazon Trio and the Amazoness Quartet, and fights the Sailor Guardians.
- Amazon Trio: Fish Eye, Tiger’s Eye, and Hawk’s Eye. They were animals turned into men by the circus and use nightmare dreams to attack. They target the Sailor Guardians and try to steal their dream mirrors.
- Amazoness Quartet: CereCere, PallaPalla, JunJun, and VesVes. Four young women turned into the four guardians of the Dead Moon Circus. Each has a circus-themed power and they help Nehelenia by stealing dream mirrors and creating Lemures, small nightmare creatures.
- Xenotime and Zeolite: Knife-throwing twins who join the Amazoness Quartet after the Trio’s failures. They attack the Guardians and battle using their blades.
- Lemures: Tiny nightmare creatures created by the Amazon Trio and the Amazoness Quartet. They help drain people’s dreams and energy and fight the Sailor Guardians.
What happens
- The Dead Moon Circus prey on people’s dreams and fears to find the most beautiful dreams for Pegasus to hide in.
- The Sailor Guardians, with help from Pegasus in some versions, work to stop them.
- In the end, the Guardians defeat the Dead Moon Circus. Nehelenia’s plans fail, and the threat from the Circus is removed in the story’s main endings.
The Dead Moon Circus remains a memorable group for their circus theme, dream attacks, and the contrast between dreams and reality in Sailor Moon.
